                  388 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.

           

          Lib. H. D.  and assisting to them, about the finding out and discovery of

                  the aforementioned Goods, as they and every of them will

                  answer the contrary at their perill; for which this shall be

                  sufficient warrant. Given from the Council Board the day

                  and year above written.

                                    Cockpitt february the 23d 1697/8

                    Sr We have not Received any Letter from you since ours

                  of the 17th November in which we answered those that then lay

                  before us but haveing had Mr Attorney and Mr Sollicitor gen

                  eralls Answer to your doubt abt Trialls for breaches of the Acts

                  of Trade we send you here inclosed a Copy thereof for yr

                  direction in that point aswe received it at the foot of an Extract

                  of your own Letter we sent unto them.

                    The Laws of Maryland lye yett as we last acquainted you

                  But we hope the Suspence will not be much Longer. How

              p. 190  ever upon this occasion it may be Convenient to add now

                  unto what he then writt you about Agents that some pson or

                  psons Authorized from thence with that character wd be very

                  usefull for promoteing the Expedition of that & any other

                  publick Affair relateing to that Province.

                    We Send you herewith all his Majestys Proclamacon of the

                  28th of the Last month prohibiteing his Subjects to enter into

                  the Service of forreigne Princes or States that you may Cause

                  it to be published in the usual Places within his Majesties

                  Territorys under your Governtt and as much as in you lies

                  take Care that his Majesties Pleasure therein Exprest be duly

                  Observed and the Transgressors thereof punished so we bid

                  you heartily Farewell

                  with the Addition of the Honoble Thomas Tench Esqr

                    Produced and read a Letter by his Exncy recd from David

                  Kennedy Esqr Collector of his Majestycs Custom's in Poco
