356 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. H. D. Islands adjacent a Commission by him granted to Mr Willm Wyvill thereby constituting him to be Riding Surveyor for the two Rivers of Bohemia & Sassafras in Cecill County, and on the heads of all other Rivers on the Eastern Shore, Dated 24th of Decemr instant wch was read and approved off. The said Mr Wyvill appears & tenders Major Edwd Dorsey & Mr Charles Carroll as security for the faithfull and due dis charge of his said Office And a Bond being prepared accordingly, was signed, Sealed and delivered at the Board by the sd Mr Wyvill and Major Dorsey & Mr Carroll his Securityes. Afterwards produced a Deputation granted by the said Esqr Randolph unto Mr Willm Bladen for being Collector of p. 617 the Port of Annapolis, and all the Rivers Creeks & Bayes &ca from the South side of South River to Susquehanna, bearing date the 24th of Decemr instant, wch also was read and approved off and the said Mr Bladen also appearing and tendering the aforenamed Major Dorsey & Mr Carroll for his securities &ca a Bond of 500 ll Strll to his Majty was prepared accordingly & by them signed & Sealed and delivered for the faithful discharge of his said Office. Then produced severall Instructions given by the said Esqr Randolph to the aforenamed Willm Wyvill for the due observance of his Surveyors place, wch were read & approved off, and Ordered to be Recorded together wth his Comission, as well in the Provincial Office as Councill Booke. The said Mr Wyvill and Mr Bladen had severally administred unto them the Oaths appointed by Act of Parliament to be taken instead of the Oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy as also the oath of Trade & Navigation & Subscribed to the Test, Afterwards produced a Comission under the hand & Scale of the aforenamed Edward Randolph Esqr bearing date the 24th of December instant, constituting Mr Thomas Collyer to be Collector of the Port of Williamstadt and of Miles, Wye & Chester Rivers which was read & approved off. Ordered that the Comission of Riding Surveyor formerly granted by his Exncy to Mr Danll Pearce of Cecill County; also the Comission granted to Mr Thomas Collyer for being Navall Officer of the Port of William: Stadt and General Riding Surveyor on that side the Bay be henceforth vacated & set a side And the same are hereby disannulled and vacated accordingly. Ordered that the Honoble Collo George Robotham of Talbot County recommend some fitt & capable person to officiate as Navall Officer of the Port of Williamstadt in the Room & stead of Mr Thomas Collyer the former Officer now dismissed, a blauck Commission for that purpose being herewith sent for
