        By his Exncy the Governr &ca Novemr 28th 1697.    Lib. H. D.

     Ordered that the Sheriff of Ann Arrundell County do

   (upon sight hereof) Summons Lt Collo Henry Ridgley Mr Geo:

   Jackson, Kellinsworth Ward and Henry ffish, all of the said

   County to be and appear before his Exncy in Councill, at the

   Port of Annapolis, on Thursday the first of December next

   without faile; and that the sd Sheriff have then & there this

   Summons.

                   Signed p Ordr H Denton Cl Concil.

  

     Vizt That he had summoned the severall parties as

   thereby he was Commanded.

     Lt Collo Ridgely according to summons appearing receives

   directions about the raising the forty five men, Ordered to be

   raised in this County, and about fixing the Publick Arms &ca

   (His Honor Collo Greenberry Collo of the said County laying

   very sick) the wch he sayes he will take care to comply with.

     Henry ffish a black Smith, appearing according to sum

   mons is Ordered to fitt and prepare what Iron worke is want

   ing to be done about the Statehouse, according as Mr Beard

   should direct; as also speedily to fix what Publick arms should

   be brought to him by the Officers of this County; for WCh he

   is told there lyes Public Tobacco ready in the Sheriffs hands

   for to satisfy him.

     John Newton the Publick Drummer of this Port being for

   his negligence displaced and William Bateman sent for; came

   accordingly and is offered the said Drummers place, being

   made sensible of the business he must expect to doe and of

   the income and Salary for the same; provided he would come

   and setle in Town; having time given him to consult & con

   sider thereof and afterwards Return his answer.

     Upon Recommendations of the Honoble Collo Iohn Courts

   (represented by the Honble Thomas Tench Esqr) how that one

   Lemon of Charles County would be a fitt person to execute

   the Cryers place in the Provincial Court of this Province, now

   vacant through death of the former Cryer, and that he will

   come & settle in town to attend thereon. Ordered that the

   same be referred till Collo Courts appears in Councill, and

   that all Petitions preferred for the said place be likewise sus

   pended the Reading untill then.

  

                 December the 3d 1697.
