Lib. H. D. lector of that Port in England for the time being to wch such Ship shall pretend to be bound. The above written form and specimen you will find written on the other side. Eigthly. Whereas by the aforesaid Act for the Encourage ment of trade no Comodities of the growth production or manufacture of Europe except Salt for the fishery of New England & Newfoundland wines of the growth of Maderas or Western Islands or Azores Servants & Horses from Scotland or Ireland and all sorts of vitualls of the growth and pro duction of Scotland & Ireland shall be imported into any of the Colonies or Plantations but what shall be bona fide and without fraud laden & Shipt in England Wales or Ber wick and in Ships duly qualified, you shall use your utmost endeavor for the due observance thereof, and if contrary here unto any Ship or Vessell shall import into the Province of Maryland any Cofnodities of the growth production or manu facture of Europe, (but what are before excepted) of which due proofe shall not be made that the same were shipt or laden in some Port of England, Wales, or Berwick by produceing Cocquets or Certificates under the hands and Seales of the Officers of Customs in such Port or place where the same were laden such Ship or Vessell goods will be forfeited. And you are to give in charge that the same be seized and prosse cuted accordingly. Ninthly. And in order to prevent the acceptance of forged Cockquets or Certificates wch hath been practiced to his Majtes great prejudice you are to give effectuall orders tht for all such European goods as by the sd Act are to be Shipt & Laden in England Wales or Berwick Coquetts for the same from hence to be produced to the Collectors or other Officers of the Customs in the Province of Maryland for the time being before the unlading thereof, and you shall give order that no European goods be landed but by warrant from the said Collector in the presence of an Officer appointed by him. And for the better prevention of frauds of this kind. You shall take care that according to the sd Act of trade no Ship or Vessell be permitted to lade or unlade any Goods or Cothodities whatsoever untill the Master or Commander thereof shall first have made known to you or such Officer or other pson as shall be thereunto authorized & appointed the arrivall of the sd Ship or Vessell wth her name, & the name & Sirname of her Master and hath shewn tht that she is a Ship duly navigated and otherwise qualified according to law & has delivered to you or such other pson a true & pfect Inventory of her Lading together wth the place or places in wch the sd goods were laden & taken into the said Shipp or Vessell under forfeiture of such Shipp and Goods.
