Munday March the 21th 1697/8.
The Councill again sate and were prsent as yesterday.
Upon representacon tht the severll sheriffs doe grieviously
burthen the Inhabitants of this his Majty Province in Charging
excessive fees especially upon psons lying under Execucon
where they usually charge twenty a day during their Imprison-
ment for each particular Execucon the Prisoner is served
wth therefore pposed tht a Law bee made to redress such
Grievance asserting the fees and punish the party transgressing
By his Excy the Govr & Councill in
Assembly March the 21th 1697/8.
His Exncy is pleased to Comand Mr Speaker & the whole,
house imediately to attend him in Councill to settle the matter
about the Indians Reported by the Comittee being one of the
principle things for wch the Assembly was Called
