with this house that yo^r Gentⁿ each of them pay ten shillings
apiece to our Serjeant at Armes and suffer the said Paper to
be burned and receive M^r Crawford to yo^r Ex^ncy favour you
will give us occasion to magnifie yo^r Justice and readyness
to p^rserve our Rights and to be always tender of yo^r Ex^ncy
Hon^r and to pray for yo^r long Continuance amongst us

Munday Mar^ch the 21^th 1697/8.

The Councill again sate and were p^rsent as yesterday.
Upon representacon th^t the sever^ll sheriffs doe grieviously
burthen the Inhabitants of this his Maj^ty Province in Charging
excessive fees especially upon psons lying under Execucon
where they usually charge twenty a day during their Imprison-
ment for each particular Execucon the Prisoner is served
w^th therefore pposed th^t a Law bee made to redress such
Grievance asserting the fees and punish the party transgressing

By his Ex^cy the Gov^r & Councill in
Assembly March the 21^th 1697/8.

His Ex^ncy is pleased to Comand M^r Speaker & the whole,
house imediately to attend him in Councill to settle the matter
about the Indians Reported by the Comittee being one of the
principle things for w^ch the Assembly was Called
