discharged of such recognizance and that such prosecution may
Cease And that this House and the whole province being
Assured of yo^r Ex^cys Justice and Integrity in having these our
Just aggrevances redrest may more hartily Joyne in pfecting
the business of this province both for the hono^r of his Ma^ty and
the benifitt of all his good and liege people of the Same

May it please yo^r Ex^cy
Whereas this house the fourth Instant did Call M^r Rob^t
Mason Treasurer of the Westerne Shoare before them to
render an Acc^t of his Treasurers office the s^d M^r Mason did
signify to this house that yo^r Ex^cy and Councill had forbidd all
the Nav^ll officers of the Westerne shoare to Acc^t with him and
therefore Could give no Acc^t to us since the I^st of June 1697
thereupon we pused the Act Entituled An Act for the Imposi-
tion of four pence p Gallon on Liquors Imported into this
province and therein find it is Enacted that the s^d four pence
shall be Collected by the Navall officers And they to render
an acc^t thereof once a year and the Treasurer to render an
acc^t thereof to the Assembly who should have the dispose-
ing of the same we Likewise perused the Act Intituled an Act
Imposeing a Duty of 10 p Cent on all European Comoditys
Exported out of this province and that the money ariseing
thereupon to be Accounted for as the four pence p Gallon
We also perused the Act Intituled an Act for Laying an Im-
position on negros Slaves and White servants Imported into
this province which money so Ariseing by the s^d Acts that the
Nav^ll offices are to Acc^t with the Treasurers We make our
humble addresses to yo^r Ex^cy That y^u will not by any ways or
means Enfringe or frustrate the af^d Acts but that yo^r Ex^cy will
be so pleased to suffer and pmitt the sev^rall & respective
Nav^ll officers within this province to render there Aco^ts to the
s^d Treasuerers According to the Directions of the af^d Acts and
that yo^r Ex^cy will be pleased so farr Capacitate the s^d Rob^t
Mason that he may to render his Acc^t to this house this
