Ordered that the hon^ble Colonel Henry Jowles and James
Frisby Esq^r returne M^r Nobbs and M^r Jones the Thanks of this
Board for their Sermons on Sunday last particularly M^r Nobbs
for his yesterday being the Thanksgiueing Day.

Colonel Addison and Esq^r Brooke returne and say they have
delived their Mesessage and that M^r Speaker returned for
Answer that he would gett the members to sitt in order to
wayte upon his Ex^cy the Gov^r
M^r Speaker and the house of Delegates Come up to attend
his Ex^cy in Councill
Where the Act of Assembly one which M^r Philip Clarke
stands Convicted is read to them.
And his Ex^cy is pleased to tell the house that he is sorry to
heare the Speaker should go to the Goale all alone and there
conferr w^th M^r Clarke three whole hours, tho the last Session
when his Ex^cy sent for him he Could not come under a long
tyme and without Six Members.
Orders Sev^rall Depositions to be read
conteyning the said Clarks Scurrilous Reflections upon the
House Viz^t that he could talk more sence then the whole
House and that he warranted that he would manage them all
and Whereupon his Ex^cy is pleased to aske if It be not per-
spicuous to the whole World how Usefull a member he is of
their House Viz^t to redicule and abuse them? And whether It
may not be propper to have his Tryall printed with the af^d
Depositions and the Vote of the House at the End of them
That he had Conceived better of the House Viz^t that
according to usage of parliam^t they would have considered to
have returned Thanks to M^r Nobbs and M^r Jones for their
good Sermons and not have acted contrary to the good
Doctrine preached unto them yesterday
Lastly his Ex^c_y tells them that Whoever should attempt to
take Clarke out of prison after an illegall Way he would
declare them seditious and rebellious to his Maj^ty
And then told them if they would consider to attend the
Service of God their King and Country he w^th his Maj^tys hon^ble
Councill would readilv jovne with them therein.
