In Council Annapolis 24th Septr 1779
Sir.
This covers a Copy of our Letter of the 17th of last Month
and its Enclosure, sent you by Li' Hardman to which we have
not had the Pleasure of receiving any Answer. Since Mr
Randall's Return we had a Letter from the Cloathier General,
desiring us to furnish what Cloathing we can; we also lately
recd a Letter from his Exy Genl Washington and a Day or two
ago, Resolutions of Congress on the same Subject. As the
general Expectation was, that the Army was and would be
fully provided with Cloathing, by the Means adopted by
Congress, our Assembly made no Provisions in their last Ses-
sion, for our Troops and it is now impossible to have a Session
in Time to provide for this Occasion, wherefore we have re-
solved to procure what Cloathing we can, though we fear it may
be short of what may be absolutely necessary, relying that the
next Assembly will approve a Measure so essential to the
