Saturday 11 September 1779

Present as on Yesterday
Edward Sims of Charles County in the State of Maryland
is appointd Ensign in the Ist Maryland Regimt of Continental
Troops and it is requested that a Commission may issue to
him accordingly from the Board of War.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to George
Dickson Twenty seven Pounds and two hundred and twenty
four Pounds, Eighteen shillings and three Pence for the use, of
Capt Richard Haff and the Guard over the Magazine near
Frederick Town and Forty three Pounds ninteen shillings for
the use of Capt John Shields & his Company Guarding the
Convention Troops thro' Maryland p Accts passed by the Aud.
Genl & Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to the said George Dickson
Twenty four Pounds ten shillings for the use of Peter Baker
a 9 Mo Sold, in the 6 Regimt Discharged being the balance
due him in leiw of Cloathing allowed by the Act of Assembly
to procure Troops for the American Army and also the
further Sum of two hundred Pounds to be delivered over to
Capt Richard Haff to be applied in procuring Provisions for
the Guard over the Magazine near Frederick Town on
Account,
That the said Treasurer pay to Commodore Thomas Grason
one hundred Pounds on account.

[Council to D. Hughes.]

In Council Annapolis 11th Septr 1779
Sir. We received the Day before yesterday a Letter from
the Board of War dated the 4th Inst informing us that
they are much overburthened with Prisoners at Philada (by
what we learn from Colo Blaine they have there about 1000)
that they are under the Necessity of sending about four hun-
dred to Fort Frederick and requesting of us a good Militia
Guard over them. We have answered their Letter, that we
shall endeavour to get the Guard and that the Prisoners may
be sent off about this Day Week, so that about the 28th Inst
they may be expected at Fort Frederick. We don't know
what will be their Rout, but have recommended it through
