and a Mob has assembled to regulate prices what will be the
issue God knows they are now parading if they have a head I
believe this business will be of service, if they have not one,
they will soon disperse as all tumultuous assemblys have done,
that have not had a leader; enclosed you have a Copy of one of
their printed hand bills. Congress have this day resolved to
retaliate on the Enemy as well for murders committed on
French Subjects as those on the Subjects of the United States

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Edward
Lloyd Esqr Five hundred and sixty one Pounds for his Attend-
ance in Council

In Council Annapolis 25th May 1779
Sir
We have ordered three Barrls of Musquet Powder of about
60lb each to be sent over to you & lodged at Hodgs's.
Our Stock of Musquet Cartridge Paper will not allow a further
Supply of that Article. We have but three make Shift Field
Pieces here, fitted in any Manner for Use. We think you judge
right in not filling your Cartridges 'til it appears necessary,
we having lately had no Intelligence which can be relied on;
the last Report is, that the Enemy are fortifying, at the Great
Bridge, that their Force was about 3000. It is highly probable
that the Disaffected in several Parts of the State, correspond
with the Enemy; if there's good Ground to suspect any Indi-
vidual being dangerous, we should, immediately on its being
made out by Affidavits, exert the extraordinary Power lodged
in us by the Legislature
