[Council to A. Buchanan.]
In Council Annapolis 16th May 1779
Sir
From Intelligence just now received, it is highly probable
that a considerable Part of the British Force now in the Bay
may be designed against this State and, if it is, Baltimore Town
will, undoubtedly be a principal Object; We therefore desire
you to give Notice to the Whole of the Militia of your County
to hold themselves in Readiness to march at a Minutes Warn-
ing and you are to assemble them, if necessary, and Act as
Occasion may require. We shall endeavour to strengthen you
all, in our Power & advise you of any Circumstances as they
occur, which may influence the calling the Militia out, or induce
us to think it necessary
We are &ca
Andrew Buchanan Esqr
