Thomas Purchaser of Provisions in Saint Mary's County to
be accounted for.
Ordered That the western shore Treasurer Pay to Charles
Wallace Paymr six hundred Pounds on Account.
That the said Treasurer Pay to Samuel Gerock One hundred
& forty four Pounds for the use of Robert Cassey.
That the said Treasurer Pay to Steven Steward Junr eight
hundred pounds to be expended in Purchasing Tobacco for
the Genl Smallwood and the further sum of five hundred
Pounds on Acct to be delivered over to Stephen Steward Senr
On the Letter of William Bordley Esqr Lieut of Kent
County dated the 27th Instant and the Information of Capt.
Falconer the Bearer thereof. It is ordered that the Lieut, of
Kent County immediately order out any Number of the Militia
of that County not exceeding forty nor for a longer Time
than one Month under proper Officers to serve as a Scouting
Party for the Protection and Defence of the Inhabitants against
the Tories, who infest the Upper part of Kent and Queen
Annes Counties with power if necessary to Act in the State
of Delaware.
Ordered That the Purchaser of Provisions deliver to Colo
Bordley of Kent County what Provisions he may think neces-
sary for a Scouting Party of the Kent Militia
That Mr Sterret furnish the Gunner of the Defence with
two Barrels Beer.
That the Commissary of Provisions deliver the said Gunner
half Barrel of Pork and half a Barrel Beef
That Mr Jesse Hollingsworth furnish the said Gunner with
50 lb flour.

In Council Annapolis 29th May 1778.
Sir.
We inclose you an Order to employ a Number of the
Militia, not exceeding forty, similar to that issued to Queen
Ann: if Voluntiers can be got the better; if the Occasion
should cease, you will immediately discharge them. You have
also an Order for Provisions for their Subsistance; pray reg-
ulate the issuing them in such Manner as to prevent Waste.
Frugality is absolutely necessary. We are &ca

Capt Falconer says he understands Theodore Morris, who
is said to have been in Philadelphia, is come down to Kent or
Queen Ann's County and talks of the Enemy having 25000
Men. It is very improper such people should be suffered to
