The RtAfter our very hearty Commendations; Whereas Honrble the Lords of the an Act has been past in this prsent Session of Councill Let Parliamt for the preventing ifrauds and Regulating ter to his Exncy con- abuses in the Plantation Trade, We have therefore cerning the thought fit to Notifye unto You the sd Act, A copy late Act of Parliamt re- whereof is here inclosed for your better Information, lating to to which We Refer You, Requiring and Command- Frauds &c. ing you in his Mats Name to take Care that the sd Act, and all other Laws made, for the Encouragemt of Naviga tion, and the Securing the Plantation Trade to this Kingdom be duly Published within his Mats Province of Maryland under your Governmt and Strictly put in Execution by all persons whom it may Concern, according to the purport thereof; And Soe we bid you very heartily ifarewell ifrom the Councill Chamber at Whitehall this 15th day of Aprill 1696 In the Eighth year of his Mats Reign.Your Very Loving ifriends J. The Lords After our Very hearty Commendations; Whereas of the Councills Information has been given that the ifrench are Lre to his making preparations by Shiping and otherwise for Exncy giving an Accot of an Attempt agt Some parts of America and have put p. 18 the ffrenches on board a Considerable Quantity of Arms for that preparations Agt some Purpose; We have thought fit by this Express to part of Notifye the Same to you to the End you may give America the Necessary Ordrs for putting all things in the best
Posture of Defence that may be within yor Governmt and that you assure the inhabitants thereof that Such Speedy Assistance will be sent from hence as the State of Affairs at home Shall permit, with particular Reguard to the Exigency's they Shall lye under and so not doubting your Utmost Care and Vigi lance herein We bid you very heartily ifarewell; ffrom the Councill Chamber at Whitehall this 20th day of April 1696: In the Eighth Year of his Mats Reign.
