upon some sober & Learned person whoe may reside in This
Province and Execute the same as Judge in Causes Testamen-
tary and as Suffragan or Commissary to the Lord Bishop of
London to the Glory of God the Honor of their Mats and to
the Genll good and Benefitt of the Church of England already
so prosperously founded by their Great Goodness & Grace in
this Province.

By the Burgesses of Assembly Octobr 18th 1694:
In Answer to the last Message Sent by yr Exncy the Governt
and Councill Concerning a Suffragan wee are in this house
agreed that the Office of Comissary Genll is fitt to be bestowed
on such of his Lsps Suffragans if their Majties sees fitt gratiously
soe to Appoint it with this humble proposition that this Pro-
vince is not able to raise any further Support at present for
such a Suffragan. And humbly prayes that if your Exncy &
Covncill will vse yor Intrest wth his Lopp to send one on these
tearmes you will highly Obleidge us therein.
