Lett^r from his Ex^ncy Coll Benjamin ffletcher Governor of
New Yorke of the 24^th of September 1694 relateing to the
protested Bills for 453^l st^rl hither sent, Together w^th a New
Scheme of a joynt assistance therein inclosed & the Exami-
nacon of a Maquase Indian was here produced the which
being Read, his Ex^ncy demands of the Board how that Matter
stands betwixt this Governm^t & New Yorke, to which was
Answered that when his Ex^ncie S^r Edmond Andross was over
here, their Ma^ts Letters relateing to the Assisting that place
with a certaine Quota of Men & Money &^ca were produced at
this Board & read the 28^th of September Anno 1693: Together
with certaine Lett^rs & papers from the Governo^r of that Colony
to the said Effect, desireing alsoe this Governm^t to Appoint a
Comission^r to be there on the first Wednesday of October then
next following to Concert & agree w^th the other Comission^rs
from New England Virg^a & pensilvania concerning the same ;
it was thereupon then moved in Covncill, whether any thing
had been done therein, upon which was made appeare by
Receipt the Transmitting of 300^l st^rI thither but that the Long

Sickness & Death of the Late Govern^r obstructed sending a
Comission^r and that it was thought impossible to send by that
time And that afterwards to witt, At a Councill held at Battle
Towne the 13^th day of ffeb^ry Anno 1693: was produced at the
Board a Couple of Lett^rs of the 8^th & 11^th of Jan^ry preceeding
sent by an Express from his Ex^ncy the Govern^r of New Yorke
signifyeing the protest of certaine Bills of Exchange drawne
by the late Govern^r Copley to the Sume of 362^l 8^s st^rI &^ca
Requireing New Bills from this Governm^t for the same as
alsoe Answer what furth^r Assistance might be expected from
hence by the first of May following, To which after a full
Debate about the same had; it was the Opinion of the Board,
that they Could not properly at that time Remitt any Money
to that Governm^t untill Instructions given by his Ex^ncy S^r
Edmund Andros to whome a Lett^r was sent to know his Ex^ncys
pleasure therein And another to his Ex^ncy the Govern^r of New
Yorke to Signifye to him that at present they Could not give
any further Answer, but would by Express send by or before
the first of May Next
