Councill again Sate & were prsent.

His Exncy the Governor &ca

Sr Thomas Laurence Barront
Secretary Thomas Tench Esqr

Coll George Robotham Capt Jn Courts
Coll Nicholas Greenberry Mr James ffrisby

Lettr from his Exncy Coll Benjamin ffletcher Governor of
New Yorke of the 24th of September 1694 relateing to the
protested Bills for 453l strl hither sent, Together wth a New
Scheme of a joynt assistance therein inclosed & the Exami-
nacon of a Maquase Indian was here produced the which
being Read, his Exncy demands of the Board how that Matter
stands betwixt this Governmt & New Yorke, to which was
Answered that when his Exncie Sr Edmond Andross was over
here, their Mats Letters relateing to the Assisting that place
with a certaine Quota of Men & Money &ca were produced at
this Board & read the 28th of September Anno 1693: Together
with certaine Lettrs & papers from the Governor of that Colony
to the said Effect, desireing alsoe this Governmt to Appoint a
Comissionr to be there on the first Wednesday of October then
next following to Concert & agree wth the other Comissionrs
from New England Virga & pensilvania concerning the same ;
it was thereupon then moved in Covncill, whether any thing
had been done therein, upon which was made appeare by
Receipt the Transmitting of 300l strI thither but that the Long

Sickness & Death of the Late Governr obstructed sending a
Comissionr and that it was thought impossible to send by that
time And that afterwards to witt, At a Councill held at Battle
Towne the 13th day of ffebry Anno 1693: was produced at the
Board a Couple of Lettrs of the 8th & 11th of Janry preceeding
sent by an Express from his Exncy the Governr of New Yorke
signifyeing the protest of certaine Bills of Exchange drawne
by the late Governr Copley to the Sume of 362l 8s strI &ca
Requireing New Bills from this Governmt for the same as
alsoe Answer what furthr Assistance might be expected from
hence by the first of May following, To which after a full
Debate about the same had; it was the Opinion of the Board,
that they Could not properly at that time Remitt any Money
to that Governmt untill Instructions given by his Exncy Sr
Edmund Andros to whome a Lettr was sent to know his Exncys
pleasure therein And another to his Exncy the Governr of New
Yorke to Signifye to him that at present they Could not give
any further Answer, but would by Express send by or before
the first of May Next
