A Bill for Roads and Ferry's read the first tyme.
The said Bill being seriously Debated
Resolved that, that parte relating to the Ferry's be rejected.
A Bill for Speedy Justice and Recovery of small Debts,
read the first tyme and passed.
A Bill for securing of the Parochiall librarys of this Prov-
ince, read the first tyme and passed.
A Bill for reviving the temporary laws of this Province, read
the first tyme. Resolved the said Bill pass with Amend-
ments.
A Bill for keeping good Orders and Rules in the porte of
Annapolis
Read the first tyme and Comitted for Amendments.

Then read his Ma^tys Comission to M^r George Muschampe
to be receiver Gen^ll of Potomack and pocomauke Districts as
also his Ex^cys Representation thereupon as followeth

By his Excellency the Gov^r and Councill Sept^r 24^th 1696.

Upon reading his Majesty's Royall Comission constituting
George Musechampe Esq^r to be receiver of Potomack Dis-
trict, dated in October last past, wherein a Sallary of 100^l
Sterling p Annum is ordered to be allowed him for the same
as by the comission herewith sent does more at large appear,
and George Plater Esq^r his Ma^tys receiver Gen^ll of Patuxent
District &c. being sent for the said Comission is given him to
read and it is asked if he has not a like Comission, who after
p^rusall thereof does say he has verbatum. Whereupon it being
represented that the Revenue of this Province, these two or
three years last past has been very [small especially the last
year] which did not amount to [above five hundred pounds,
this Board thinks] fitt to represent the same to the house
that they may find out a way to pay the said two small
Sallary's of one hundred pounds &c

Thought that the same doth not come before the house, but
since that his Ex^cy has required their Advice; this house are
of opinion that the s^d Musechamps Sallary ought to be paid
him out of his Ma^tys parte of the Revenue and if not Sufficient
in Potomack then at patuxent and pocomaucke Districts.
Sent to his Ex^cy and his Ma^ty hon^ble Councill by Major Ham-
mond and M^r Sanders, who returne and say they have deliv-
ered their message.
House adjourns till 9 a Clock tomorrow morning.
