A Bill for the imposition of 20^s p poll on negroes imported
read the first tyme and passed
A Bill for assessing 3^d p hogshead on tob: for defraying
the publique Charge of this province read the first tyme &
passed.
Major Dent returns to the house with the hon^ble Col Green-
berry & Col Addison who administred the Oaths appointed
by Act of parliam^t unto Mr Crauford Major Barton Col Beale
& Mr Hatton who in p^rsence of the af^d Gentⁿ of his Ma^tys
hon^ble Councill Subscribed the test

The house [mett, Absent Mr. Watson] Cap^t Waughop Mr
Robert Smith [Mr Scarborough and Col. St.] Leidger Codd.
A Bill im[powering the Committee of Kent] County to pur-
chase 3 Acres of [Land whereon to build a Court] house.
Read first 2^d & 3^d tymes by [order of the house and passed]
nemine contradicente.
Recomended [that Mr. Perry] be continued post for this
province at the [same sallary] as last year agreed for
Put to the Question if he shall be continued at the same
Sallary
And carryed in the Affirmative nemine contradicente.
Ordered that the publique Treasurer for the Western Shoar
of this province pay him 50^l sterl. his Sallary due for his last
years service out of what shall accrew to this province,
put to the Question if the Severall Sherriffs shall be con-
tinued after their tyme expired according to Act of Assembly
for Election of Sherriffs Carryed by majority of Voices that
they shall not be continued.
A Bill for laying an Imposition upon negroes read the
second tyme. The s^d Bill read the 3^d tyme & passed.
A Bill for Assessing 3^d p hogs^hd upon tob: for defraying the
publique Charge of this province read the 2^d & 3^d tymes by
Order of the house and passed.
The petition of Cap^t John Dorsey read in the house com-
playning that he had paid Levys for 5 years together for his
Serv^ts on a plantation near potapscoe River in the County of An
Arundell where the s^d Levys were usually taken, and has also
paid their Levy's this year in An Arundel County yet the same

Serv^tsare returned as taxables in Baltemore County whereupon
that Sherrif has Executed the pet^r tob.
