are forfeited, and you are to give in charge that the same bee
seized and prosecuted accordingly, And in order to prevent
the acceptance of forged Cocquetts (wch hath been practiced
to Our great prejudice) you are to give effectuall Orders, that
for all such European Goods as by the said Act and Proclama-
tion are to bee shipt in England Wales or Berwick, Cocquetts
for the same in England, Wales or Berwick, bee produced to
the said Collector of Our Customes in Maryland, or to his
Deputy there for the time being before the unlading thereof,
And you are likewise to give Order that no European Goods
bee landed but by Warrant from the said Collector or his
Deputy in the presence of an Officer appointed by him, And
for the better prevention of ffrauds of this kind, you are to
take care that according to the said Act of Trade no ship or
Vessell do Lade or unlade any Goods or Comodities whatso-
ever untill the Master or Commander thereof shall first make
known to you or such Officer or other person as shall bee by
you thereunto authorized and appointed, the arrivall of the
said ship or Vessell, with her name, and the name and Sir-
name of her Master, and hath shewn that shee is a ship duly
navigated and otherwise qualifyed according to Law, and hath
delivered to you or such other person a true and perfect Inven-
tory of her Lading together with the place and places in which
the said Goods were Laden and taken into the said Ship or
Vessell under forfeiture of such Ship and Goods, You are
likewise to cause effectuall Orders to bee given, that all Masters
of Ships not Trading Coastwise from one part of Maryland to
another do Enter their ships with the Collector of Our Cus-
tomes in the said Province or his Deputy for the time being,
as well as with the Navall Officer, and also give in their con-
tents upon Oath to the said Collector, or his Deputy.
7. And whereas Wee have been informed That severall
Ships and Vessells have carryed great quantities of the Enumer-
ated Plantation Goods from Our Colonies and Plantations to
Holland, Hambourg and other places, without first Landing
the same in England (as the Law in that case hath provided)
to the great prejudice of Our Customes, and the Trade and
Navigation of this Our Kingdom, For preventing the like
ffrauds for the future (as much as in us lyes) you are every
year or oftener as occasion to send a List of all such ships or
Vessells as shall Lade any of the Enumerated Plantation
Comodities within Our Province of Maryland, or Import any
European Goods (according to the forme herewith delivered
you) to the Commissioners of Our Customes in England for
the time being at the Custom house of London.
8. Whereas Wee have been informed that there are a con-
siderable number of Bonds taken in our Province of Maryland
