sey, But have likewise Killed our horses Cattle and hoggs :
Robbed our houses, and last most cruelly killed some of his
Majestys Christian Subjects, Whereby wee were justly pro-
voaked to have made a Warr upon you and dispatched away
our Troopes into yor Country, to have revenged the severall
mischeifes done to us (yett our Lord Propry and greate Gov-
ernor) did resolve to follow the use and custome of Christians
nations and that we should first come here and acquaint their
Sachims with it, and know from you whether you doe or will

Countenance (or allow of such their wicked Actions) wch if ;
you doe you must not expect to live any longer in peace, nor
enjoy yor land in quiet, But that wee shall make warr upon
you into yor owne Country, and wee doubt not in a short time
to reduce you to the same Condicon and as other Indian
Nations that have broke their faith with Christians But if
you doe not Allowe their Evill Accons, then wee are willing
to hold and keepe the peace with you; Expect satisfaccons for
the Evill done to us according as you have promised in yor
answeres to the propositions made p Coll Henry Coursey
(wch being performed on yor part, wee are here ready to Con-
firme the former peace that soe the Chaine of freindship may
remayne strong and fast.

I Doe acquaint you that Coll Coursey informed me from
Maryland that fifty Oneydes, have about 3 weekes ago taken
fifty four of the Maryland Indians prisoners and robbed some
Christian house Doe ask whether you or any of yor Troopes
have lately been out that way, and how many and if any be
Out now.
Answere.
There are some of our Troopes out that way, but are not
yett come home, wee have beene out at the Dowaganhaes,
and fetched home fifty prisoners lately but not of the Mary-
land freind Indians only there are brought prisoners from
Maryland though not by us (viz.) one in our Castle and two
in Onnondaquess but are not hurt in the least.
