Virginia and Maryland the meane time, and this Evill wee
Conceive arrises, in that yor said Instruccons were not soe
possitive or well observed, as the quallity of the affaire
Required Now Sr Our humble request to you is that you will
please p the first that comes this way to send a power from
under yor hand to us to dispatch away from hence some
person that wee may imploy for our money to goe after these
Troopes in such manner and wayes as wee shall find most
probable to drawe them back and prevent the goeing of the
rest, and this wee the more earnestly desire because, and first
wee understand some of the Troopes are Comanded by the
Susquehannocks of whome wee have too greate cause to
feare they bear their designes against the Christians, Secondly
that this being the Cheife and greate affaire wee come aboute
may not be slighted or neglected in passing through other
hands, soe that wee may use all our Endeavours for the
prservacon of his Majestys Two Collonys Wee doe further
humbly request that if in case any shipps be arrived from any
parts of Europe to Communicate to us the newest news from
thence; All things here are in good Order and quiett. Sr

Capt. Brockholls Letter viz :
New Yorke June 30th 1682:
Honoured Srs
Yors of 24th and 25th instant this day about noone to hand,
and am glad to heare of yor good healths and safe arrivall
But sorry that you should be informed of Troops of Indians
goeing towards Maryland a thing soe perticuler forbidden,
And which the Commissarys noe wayes advise me of, which
makes me doubt the truth However have given orders to the
Commissarys and all in place to advise and assist you in all
necessary to prvent any trouble to his Majestys subjects in
Maryland or elsewhere and if such reports be true to diverte
the Indians from such Intencons, And question not but you
will meete with full satisfaccon accordingly, the twenty
seaventh instant arrived a Shipp from London, by whome
Capt Baxter a Leift in the Garrison Little newes, But the
Dukes being in London and all quiett there. I wish you a
speedy and satisfactory dispatch in yor Negotioacon That I
may have the happiness to Enjoy yor good Company's much
acceptable to
