party of horse such a Quantity as twelve to Receive further
orders from us, but he being from home had noe answer about
Sunn sett came two Pascattoway Indians armed, and called

out where are the Sinniquos, the Indians came together and
had some talk; The Interpretr told us The tall Sinniquo told
the other that they were come to fetch them away
The Pascattoway s asked us what we were come to this
place for. Wee answered to speake good words, but as yett
we had not time, as soone as we had they should know and
soe they went away seemingly satisfied
Aug: 26. Wee in the morning sent Captn Beale to find
Captn Brandt and to come with him and the twelve Troopers
sent for yesterday about twelve a Clock he returned with
Capt Brandt and twelve of his men. Captn Brandt acquaints
us that he heares noe newes of the Northern Indians nigh
Zachajah.
Upon consulting with Capt. Brandt we appointed him with
his Troope to goe towards the ffort this night or the next
morning to find out the Northern Indians and to make them
acquainted that we are hard by ready to treate with them,
and if they discover them not by Sunday night to returne to
us according to ordr (vizt)
By vertue of a Commission to us directed from the Rt
honble the Lord Propry for a negotiation with the Sinniquo
Indians you are hereby ordered and Desired with your Troop
or soe many as you shall think meete to march within One
Mile of Zachajah ffort, and to take with you Jacob Young the
Interpreter, and at such distance or less as your discretion
shall moove you to search by all means possibly you cann to
find the Sinniquo Troopes. Which having found you are by
the Interpreter to make them acquainted that the Lord Propry
hath sent two Commission" with their two Messengers for to
treate with them, which said two Commissionrs & Messengers
are at an English Plantation hard by, and to desire them to
agree with you where to meete, which haveing done with
what speed yu can give us notice thereof with some small
number of your Troop to guard us.

2dly You are hereby ordered and Desired (if you cannot
as aforesaid discover the Sinniquo Troopes by Sunday night
being the 28th of this instant August,) You repaire to us to
Mr James Bowleings Plantation to receive further ordrs and
for soe doing this shall be your sufficient warrant. Given
under our hands the 26th of August Anno Domini 1681 :

Saturday one of the Clock
The 27th August Captn Brandt sent to us to Mr Bowleings
giveing us notice that he had discovered the Northern Indians
