332 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1678-1679.
Lib. R. some time through mistake been Suspended and not named
therein altogether unknowne to his Lspp:
Ordered therefore that the said Henry Tripp haveing first
taken his oath of Commissioner be of the Quoru in the said
Comisso and take his place in the County Courts there
accordingly as formerly he hath done.

ffebry 19th 1680: J Llewellin Cl Consil.

Ordered that John Goddin of Somersett County gentl be
added to the Commission of said County and that the vsuall
oath in such cases being Administred unto him he take his
place in the County Court Accordingly.
Ordered that a Blank Comission be drawne and delivered
to Coll Wm Stevens to nominate and appoint whom he shall
think fitt Capt of a troope of horse or Company of ffoote in

p. 159 Mattapony and Boquata-Nawton hundreds in Somersett
County as occasion should require or the said Coll Stevens
should think convenient
The Comission is as foll viz

Maryland ss:
Charles Absolute Lord and Propry of the Province of
Maryld and Avalon Ld Baron of Baltemore &o To of
Somerset County Greeteing
C: Baltemore
Out of the Speciall trust and Confidence we have in your
ffidelity Circumspection courage care and good Conduct we
have ordeined constituted and appointed as by these prsents
we doe ordeine constitute & appoint you the sd to be Capta
of a Troope of horse or Compa of ffoote (as occasion shall
require or shall be thought convenient) to be by you
raised in Mattapony and Boquatanawton hundreds in the
County aforesaid Wherefore the Soldiers of the sd
Troope or Company to be by you raised as aforesaid
you are to take into your care and Charge as Capta
them to exercise and train up in the art of Warr and
Military Discipline and in all thinges to act doe and pforme
as any Capt of a Troope of horse or company of ffoote may or
of Right ought to Doe to the Resistance of all our Enemies
Suppression of all Mutinies, Insurrections Invasions and
Rebellions whatsoever within this Province according to such
orders Instructions and Directions as you shall from time to
time receive from us or our Ltt Generall or other Chiefe
Governor for the time being, from Coll William Stevens of
our said County of Somersett or from other your Superior
Officer, And we doe hereby strictly charge and Comand all
