Then mett to consider and consult of the prsent state and
condition of Our Provll and neighbouring Indians as the case
now stands with them in relation to fforreigne Indians their
Enemies of whom they stand in daily feare
Resolved that further time be taken to consider thereof and
ordered that Saturday next the nineteenth instant be the Day
appointed for the meeteing of the Councill.

Resumed their Consult touching the prsent State and con-
dition of our Neighbouring Indians viz. Pascattoway, Matta-
woman, Nanjemy, and Choptico's
His Lspp: gives the board to understand that some of the
greate men of Pascattoway had lately been with him to rep-
resent unto him the distressed condition they at present
groaned under and wch their ffriendshipp to the English by
assisting them in the late expedition against the Susque-
hannoh Indians had reduced them unto, that most of the Mat-
tawoman Indians had been lately Surprised and cutt of by the
Susquehannohs, that the Susquehannohs were a common
Enemy alike to them all, that they daily expect when it may
be their owne turne being already at that passe that they dare
not venture out of their ffort to plant their Corne for their sus-
tenance And therefore as they have involved themselves in
these troubles aad Calamities by their sideing with and
ffriendshipp to the English they Expect and crave protection
from his Lspp: according to Articles with a competent Supply
of Corne for their necessary Subsistance
The result whereof is comprised in this following ordr viz.
