of Mr Lloyd, to whom he has a long time wrote & often, desir-
ing Mr Lloyd would transmit him Intelligence How, When &
by whose directions ? Lord Baltimore came into possession of
the 10000 Acres formerly in the possession of Mr Thomas
Brerewood, who resided upon the Premises & died in Mary-
land in 1746. Mr Tasker the prest can best solve the Ques-
tions relating, possession I apprehend being taken in his time
of Agency. It is Necessary early Intelligence thereof his
Lordp being in a Chancery suit cong the Legality of Title Given
by Chas Lord Baltimore to Lady Margret his wife in 1713 by
Grant of Lands lying in Maryland, Baltimore Cty

April 31st 1762.
On your writing to me on the Subject herein write singly
only
please to send the inclose to Mr Lloyd who has wrote cong
Papers relative wod transmit that were in Mr Dalhams
possession now in his Widows, are matters I desire no
transmission of to me upon no Acct of this affair private
Notice is best as it may make clamour in the Province.
The Question here is whether the Grant in Law is valid, the
said Chas Lord Baltimore being strictly restrained by settlemt
with valuable consideration reserved of Quit Rent to his Heirs
at Law. It wod be proper to know if any such Grant has been
Recorded in Maryland in the Land Office & whether Grants
in the Province have not been voided them on Accot of
reserved Quit Rent sterlg not Recorded ? only Indian Corn
Rent

[Sharpe to Amherst.]

To Sr Jeffery Amherst. Annapolis the 10th of May 1762.
Sir
I cannot acknowledge the Receipt of the Letter Your Excel-
lency was pleased to favour me with the 17th of last Month
without returning you 1 hanks for Your Compliance with my
Request on behalf of Lieut. Colo Dagworthy & Dr Ross in
causing their Business to be dispatched as soon as possible.
Upon their arrival here two Days ago with the Dollars which
were paid to the former in pursuance of Your Excellency's
Warrant for the Arrears of Pay due to the Officers & Men
who composed the Maryland Troops I ordered an Advertise-
ment to be published in the New York Pennsylvania Mary-
land & Virga Gazettes notifying to all persons who may have
a Right to receive any Part of the Money that the above men-
tioned Gentlemen will in the Month of July next attend here
& at a convenient place in another part of the Province in
order to satisfy the respective Claims of such Persons, & in
