236 Papers relating to the Associators' Assembly, 1689.

P. R. O.

as they have already done Mr Richard Smith, Mr Tavey, and

Mr Butler now in hold: This House for the generall satisfac-
tion of all the good people of this Province, more especially
the Inhabitants of the said two Counties therein more particu-
larly and neerely concerned) have thought fit to signifie and
make knowne, And be it hereby knowne to all persons that
the said reports are altogether fabulous and fictitious, false and
untrue, raised and contrived only by some malitious, evill and
ill affected persons as aforesaid, on purpose to divert, obstruct
& prevent if possible the unanimous and joint concurrent pro-
ceedings of this House in their honest & just endeavours to
settle and establish the Government of this Province in peace
and quietness, according to the true intent and meaning of
this House; for which end and to no other intent and purpose
this House doe declare they are now assembled and mett
together. They doe alsoe further say, & give assurance
hereby, that they have not, neither know of any charge against
any particular person whatsoever in either of the said
Counties publickly resident or inhabiting, neither have they
any designe or intent to trouble, molest or prejudice them in
their persons or estates, but that the said Smith, Tavey and
Butler now in custody are the only delinquents they know of
against whom they have anything at present to say or charge,
and that the rest of your Neighbours or Inhabitants as afore-
said are (soe farr. forth as is knowne or made appeare) free
and clear of any imputation of that nature, and therefore upon
the Faith of this House have free liberty & safe conduct upon
all occasions, to make their applications to this House, or any
Member thereof, or otherwise to travell & pass to and fro about
their lawfull occasions without lett, hindrance or molestation.
And to the end that the sense of this House may the better
be published and made knowne for the satisfaction of all their
Majesties loving Subjects in both said Countys, This House
have made choice of you Mr Richd Johnes as a person of good
credit & repute, & therefore most fitt to comunicate & make
publick the same, which you are hereby desired to doe, in such
manner & forme as to you shall seeme meete & convenient,
alsoe to inform yourselfe the best you cann, & signifie to this
House soe soone as possible, the reason why the Election in
Anne Arrundell County hath been obstructed, the Members
whereof are the only persons now wanting to fill up this
House.
