And Lastly this house are not willing to believe that the
Lower house will proceed to Adjust the publick Accounts
without the Consent of this house If they do this house do
hereby protest against such their Proceedings as Illegall there
having been a Committee of both houses for that purpose for
that it is the right of this house to take care that the good
People of this Province be not Burthened with unjust and
unreasonable Accots

Mr Robotham, Captain Pile and Mr Round with a Message
& Mr Robotham says the Members of the Lower house for
the Committee of Accounts are ready to join with the Mem-
bers of this house.

The Message

Lower house of Assembly 3d December 1688.
Out of a due Sense of the great charge this Assembly daily
stands the Province in and the desire this house hath to dis-
patch the Emergent Affairs now before them they are willing
to wave all Contests about so small a matter as the Occasion
of Saturdays Messages and the rather because they conceive
the same was Occasioned for want of the Upper house having
a due Information of the reasons that this house Objected
against the Committees then Clerk Boye and that was only
for his Incapacity which certainly would have retarded the
Business of the same and therefore this house desire the
Upper house to Concurr with them in leaving the Choice of
a fit Clerk to the Chairman and Members of the said Com-
mittee
