[Smyth to Council.]

Annapolis Novr 13th 1776.
Gentlemen
Your not sitting this morning before I leave town prevents
me from having the pleasure of seeing you.
The sooner you send the Salt for curing the 100 Barrels of
Beef which you have empowered me to purchase, the better,
or the best Beef will all be sold, and at the same time it will be
necessary to send me about £250.
Permit me to remind your Honors of the application of Mr
Alexander Murray for the command of the Province Schooner
now at Mr Stewart's yard, should you favour him with the
app' his Brother Doct. Murray will immediately inform him
thereof, and I am with much Respect

St Eustatia 13th Nov. 1776.
Gentlemen.
We have this day drawn on you in favour of Mr John
Parrott for Four hundred Dollars, for which draft we received
Speicie from him, and flatter ourselves that it will be duly
Honoured. We can assure you that Mr Parrott's cash came
verry opportunely to our assistance having more Engagements
on account of the Publick now due, than we can conveniently
Pay We are with much esteme,
Gent.

P. S. No mention was maid by neither of us Wheather
hard Spetia was to be paid in Maryland or not, but hope you
will Sattisfy the bearer of the bill. V. B. & H.

Thursday 14th November 1776.

Council met. Present as on yesterday.
Copy of Letter No 4 was sent to each of the absent Mem-
bers of the Council.
Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Oliver
Whiddon two Pounds ten Shillings for a Gun.
Ordered that the said Treasurer pay to Catherine Nixon
thirty shillings.
Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Hugh
Gardner nine Pounds Currency.
