for the people to sign; the substance of which this deponent
understood was that all those persons who sign'd the same
bound themselves to stand together in behalf of their King
& to oppose the measures of the Committee and to support

each other and be In readiness ill twenty four hours Warn-
ing to rescue any one of their number who shou'd happen to
be call'd before the Committee and to resist any attempts
to apprehend or seize any of their said number, and that
there was about 70 who had subscribed the same and that
a certain Benjamin Shockley was principally active in handing
about the said Association and encouraging the people to
sign the same and advis'd them not to sign the general
Association of the Province

November 18th 1775.
The Deposition of Nicholas Hamon of lawfull age being
called on by the Committee of Worcester County deposeth
and saith, that he lives in the neighbourhood where the article
of agreement or association paper was circulated which is
taken notice of in the deposition of Isaac Hammond and
that they heard sortie of them were to be sent to Boston and
they were determined not to go themselves or suffer any of
their neighbours to go, if they could prevent it, that the
Association paper or Article of agreement above alluded to
was signed by Benjamin Shockly amongst a number of others.

November 18th 1775.
The Deposition of John Davis of lawfull age being called
on by the Committee of Worcester County, deposeth and
saith that about four weeks ago a certain Benjamin Shockly
came to this Deponent's mill and they were talking of the
provincial association, and that Shockly told this Deponent
that if any person who had signed the same were sorry for
what they had done, if they wou'd come to him, he wou'd clear
them from it.

November 15th 1775.
The deposition of Smith Lingo of lawfull age being called
on by the Committee, that about 3 or 4 weeks ago this Depo-
nent was at the House of Wm Dykes where met with Benjamin
Shockly and Shockly asked him if he was one of the damn'd
