think right as imagine him to be the best Judge what I may
deserve. Lieut. Nicholson I here is going to leave the Ship
likewise Lieut Johns, if so I think should be first Lieutenant
as I was master of the Ship before Lieut Auchenleck had his
commission, from gentlemen

Tuesday, Septt 3rd 1776

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to William
Belwood five pounds for Boatage for Flying Camp.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to George
Gordon & Oliver Whiddon ten pounds, eight shillings and
eleven pence for mending Guns.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Thos Drown thirteen
shillings & four Pence for making Cloaths.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to George
Trumbull for use of Captain James Nicholson five hundred
and fourteen pounds for pay of Ship Defence's Crew.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to George Trumbull for
use of Jesse Hollingsworth two hundred pounds
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Saml Chester twenty
two pounds, ten shillings, for being Adj'
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Selby & Howard thir-
teen pounds, sixteen shillings & six pence for Amt of Acct
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Saml Harriss six
Pounds, for Boatage.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Danl Jenifer Junr nine
pounds, seven shillings & Six Pence for his medical Attend-
ance at St George's Camp.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Wm Akers five pounds,
twelve shillings & six Pence for Boatage
Adjourned 'till next Day 10 oClk.

Gentlemen. Talbot County Sept 3rd 1776.
Agreable to your order I have this day engaged Sergeant
Bannon with a guard of eight men to take charge of the Pub-
lick Magazine in this County, and hope for your order on our
Paymaster to furnish him with one shilling per man for each
days subsistence & with such pay as is due to the Militia,
when in actual service, at the expiration of each month.
I am very respectfully Gentlemen
