We have directed Capt Nicholson who goes to Phila on
business of his own to endeavour to procure some salted pro-
visions for the use of the navy, should any difficulties attend
the execution of his orders, we must request you'll endeavour
to remove them, and at the same time to advance him Money
to pay for what he may engage.

Sir.
We are willing and desirous to ease the militia of your
County all we can, with safety to the Province, and therefore
have ordered Capt John Brooke to Drum Point, there to
remain until Capt Beall returns, or until the further order oi
the Council of Safety; the Contractor is to furnish rations for
his men.
