[Graves to Council.]
July 24th 1776.
Gentlemen.
Some time ago I tendered you an account of some repairs
done to Gun Locks, in consequence of instructions from
Brigadier General Chamberlain. I did not exceed my orders
in any one thing to my knowledge particularly with respect to
the sercumstances of the persons for whoom the repairs were
done. I am Gentlemen :

[Nicols to Council.]
Talbot County July 24th 1776.
Gentlemen. Capt Veazey's demand upon me, due from the
commencement of his Company, renders me under the neces-
sity of beging a small order on our Treasurer for payment of
the lower troops abt four hundred pounds will be sufficient, as
the time draws near for payment, you will please to forward it.

[Contee to Council.]
July 24th 1776.
Gentlemen. At the request of the Committee of observa-
tion for Prince Georges County, I am to acquaint you as
chairman appointed for this day, that there is but little proba-
bility at present of borrowing or purchasing any guns well
fixed in this county at the price of £4.10 or of collecting any
blanketts, but if any such shod hereafter be got the Committee
will send them to the Council as soon as they may be obtained,
also I am to inform you that the collectors appointed some
time past to receive fire Arms from non associators, have not
as yet made any return thereof.

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Eastern Shore pay to
Robert Lloyd Nicols Esq. Paymaster of the Regular Troops
on the Eastern Shore One thousand Pounds Currency.
Ordered That no Person whatever be permitted to embark
on Board any Man of War, Tender or other Vessel in Order
