Companies of Militia belonging to the Upper District, of
Frederick County.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Captⁿ John H. Stone fifteen Pounds, eighteen shillings and
nine pence Currency, for necessaries furnished his Company.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Col^o Benjamin Rumsey for the use of Amos Garrett, eighteen
Pounds, seventeen shillings, and six Pence C^y for 47 Bayonets.
Ordered That the Commissary of Stores at the City of
Annapolis deliver to Lieut^t W^m Harrison for the use of that
part of Captain Veazey's Company stationed at Kent island,
one Bolt of Oznab:^gs, six Pieces of Check-Linen, two pieces of
Country-Linen, twenty Pair of Leather Breeches, and six Quire
of Cartridge Paper.

Sir.
Your Presence [in Council] is much wanted there being but
three members in Town, and several Commiss^ns to sign and
other business before us.
4^th July 1776

[Martin to Council.]
Gentlemen,
This will inform you of my safe arival with the Brig Friend-
ship in to Chingoteag on Tuesday July 2^d which M^r Richards
has taken on your acct^s I likewise [send] you a manifest of the
Cargo I have on board, best part of which I have got on shore
under the protection of Coll. F. Lemmon be so kind to let
me know as soon as possable what measurs must be taken
with the Brig & Crew, the being all in debt to the Vessel,
some 3£ some more & sum less. I have not time to write
you a full detale for ther is 3 tenders cruising off this harbour
which puts me in confusion till I get my cargo landed. If the
Brig should fit out again I should be appointed to go in her.
I hope you will grant me leave to go as far as Baltimore to
see my little family & settle with my last owner.
I have on board 8 officers & 23 hands, 3 four pounders, 6.
3 pounders, 6 swivels & i Cohorn. Be so kind to let me
know what quantity of Powder & lead I shall keep on board
for the Vessels use, for the Tenders is dangerous. If the Brig
