Tuesday 7th May 1776.

Council met. Present as yesterday. Mr Jenifer and Mr
Carroll attended.
Copy of Lre No 147 was sent to the Committee of Observa-
tion for Baltimore County.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Capt James Nicholson five hundred and fourteen Pounds on
Account of the Forces on Board the Ship Defence.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Eastern Shore pay to
Mr James Geoghegan One hundred and forty five Pounds
seventeen Shillings and six Pence for providing Subsistence
for Capt Gunby's Company.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr William Winder of Somerset County Eight Pounds five
Shillings for guarding Powder as pr Account.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Mr Thomas Contee
six Pounds sixteen Shillings for Rugs and Blankets for the
Troops.
Adjourned till next Day 10 o'Clock.

[Council to Baltimore Committee.]
To the Committee of Observation for Bajtimore County

7th May 1776.
Gentn
The Quantum of Salvage on Mr Hudson's Ship depends in
Congress on the Length of Time she was in possession of the
Tender in Patapsco river & we request, as it will occasion a
great deal of Trouble and Expence to bring Witnesses for the
Purpose before our Board, that you will immediately take and
transmit to us the Affidavits of such Persons as are best
acquainted with the Time of the Capture and Re-capture that
we may communicate them to our Deputies.
7th May 1776

Rock Hall May 7th 1776.
Gentlemen. I have inclosed the receipts of two expresses
directed to the delegates in convention for Queen Anns County,
and Kent County, the express for Cecill I delivered at John
Duckery Thomson Esqr on the 24 April I would have sent
them before but as Major Jennopher was going to Philladel-
phia I showed him the Receipts, and he said it was very well.
