Monday 8 April 1776.
Council met. Present as on Saturday except Mr Hall.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Joseph Middleton thirty seven Pounds ten Shillings in Part
Payment for his furnishing a Pilot Boat for the Purpose of
gaining and communicating Intelligence.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.

Bladensburgh 8th April 1776.
Gentn Yours of the 29th ult. I received yesterday I have
examined the powder according to your request & find there
are 26 bbls. of corse powder including one that was broke on
bord the vessel four Barrells & 20 keggs of fine powder,
though there seems to be something of a mixture throughout
the whole I am Gentn Yr most obedt Humble Sert

[Hopkins to Council.]
Baltimore April 8th 1776.
Gentlemen. I have sent by Jno Ross agreeable to your orders
10 Barrels musquet Gunpowder 50 gun locks 2 small Swords
3 pr fencing Foils 100 cartouch Boxes & Belts 12 psoznas 5 ps
Brown Roles and 3 ps wide Hessing you wrote for four pair
Fencing Foils but the rest are taken by Major Gist, the small
swords are sent agreeable to the Gentlemens request who
brought the orders. I received from Messrs Lux & Bowley
86 ps oznas 119 ps Hessing 80 ps Brown Roles and 12 large
Roles lead weight supposed to be from 600 to 1000 lbs each
but have not had time to weigh it yet. Messrs Lux & Bowley
informed me he was to send the rest of the Stores which came
in the vessel to you, you desired to know the quality of the
powder now in the magazine, which is 70 Barrels musquet
and 33 Barrels cannon. I have not received any arms from
the Head of the Bay. I am Genl Yr mo. Humble Sevt

Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr William Reynolds thirty Shillings for the Hire of his Horse
6 Days.
