twenty Keggs of powder at this place, pleas to make out a
commission for Mr Elias Lazenbey, as insign to Captn Rich-
ardsons Company.

Thursday 4th April 1776.
Council met. Present as yesterday.

Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Mr Isaac
Harris 5 Ib. powder to prove Musquets.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Lancelot Jacques twenty five Pounds fifteen shillings for 6
half Faggots of Steel and 8c.. ).. 8lb Bar Iron.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Capt George
Stricker (for the use of Mr George Bane) ten Pounds Currency
for the Waggonage of lb 2500 Lead from Frederick Town to
Port Tobacco.
Adjourned till 3 O'Clock & met accordingly.

Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Capt James Tootell fifty Pounds Currency on Account of the
Western Shore pay to Captain George Stricker four hundred
and six Pounds one Shilling and one penny being the Ballance
of his general Account to the 3d of April.
Ordered That Mr Henry Yost and Mr John Unsild deliver
to Capt George Stricker all the Musquets and Bullet Moulds
which are now finished by them for the use of the Province.
On hearing the Petition of Henry Ridgely & others against
the Choice oi Officers made by the Company under the Com-
mand of Capt John Burgess,
Resolved [that] the same be rejected; and that Commis-
sions be made out to those Persons of said Company, who
were chosen by the People on the 9th Day of September last,
as Captain, first and second Lieutenant, and Ensign. Com-
missions issued accordingly to John Burgess elected Captain,
Davidge Warfield i Lieutenant Basil Burgess second Lieu-
tenant, and William Simpson Ensign.
The Proceedings of the Committee of Observation for the
Middle District of Frederick County against Robert Gassaway
together with the Charge against said Robert Gassaway were
laid before the Council and read in the following Words to wit.
"At a Meeting of the Committee of Observation for the
Middle District of Frederick County on April 1st 1776."
" Mr Robert Gassaway, according to Order, being brought
before the Committee in Custody of Capt Philip Smith, the
Charge exhibited against him (a Copy whereof is herewith
