Sir.
I fancy from what I hear that you mistook the directions I
gave you. They were only that you should get the vessels
ready for sinking and not to sink them immediately. I would
not have them sink till you are ordered to do so by Capt.
Nicholson.
And are &c

Sunday 10th March 1776
Council met. Present as yesterday.

A Letter from Captain Squire of the Otter Sloop of War,
to his Excellency the Governor together with his Excellency's
Answer thereto, were communicated to the Council, upon
which a Copy of Letter No 5 1 was sent to his Excellency by
the Council.
An Express was sent to Colo Thomas Dorsey directing him
to discharge the Battalion of Militia under his Command.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
the Committee of Observation for Baltimore County one thou-
sand Pounds Currency on Account of the Fortifications erect-
ing there.
