Friday 8 March 1776.
Council met. Present as yesterday except Mr Carroll

Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
the Committee of Observation for Baltimore County.one thou-
sand Pounds Currency on Account of Provision for the Militia
now in Baltimore Town.
A Letter was received from the Committee of Observation
Baltimore County and answered (Vid No 38).
Copy of Letter No 39 was sent to Brigadier General Cham-
berlaine and a Copy of No 40, to Captain James Hindman.
Ordered That Major Thomas Price deliver out of the public
Magazine to Colonel Rezin Hammond forty Pounds of Pow-
der one hundred and sixty Pounds of Buckshot, and one hun-
dred and twenty Gun-Flints for the use of the Severn Battalion,
to be safely kept by him until Necessity of going into actual
service may require its being delivered out to the Militia.
Copy of Letter No 41 was sent to Colonel Joshua Beall.
Ordered, That Captn Pitt and Mr Middleton keep a good
Look out in the Bay near the Mouth of this River and see
that no Vessel pass out of the Harbour or from below towards
the Mouth of Potapsco, unless they have License so to do from
the Council of Safety.
Ordered, That Major Tillard deliver to Colonel John Weems
or his Order, for the use of the Province, a Barrel of Gun
Powder now at Pigg-Point in the Possession of and under the
Care of the said Tillard, but that Colonel Weems do not
distribute the same among the Companies of his Battalion until
the Service of the Public makes it absolutely requisite.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Richard Hall fifty two Pounds Currency to defray the Expence
of carting the Records.
Adjourned 'till 3 oClock and met accordingly.

The Order of the [day for] taking into Consideration the
Petition of Henry Ridgely and others, was referred 'till a future
Day, to be appointed by the Council; the Elk Ridge Battalion
being ordered on Duty to Baltimore Town.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Thomas Hyde fifty five Pounds, one shilling and four Pence
halfPenny for 3481 Ib. Lead.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
John Youst two Pounds eleven Shillings, and seven Pence
Currency for repairing Guns.
Ordered, That Captain Barton Lucas immediately march
his Company to their Station at the City of Annapolis.
