P. S. Agreeable to your Request, a Pasport was granted
Maynard, who proceeded immediately to New York. Mr Pur-

viance inclosed us affidavits of two Skippers who had been
taken by Ld Dunmore, mentg that a Pilot Boat with a Clergy-
man from Maryld had arrived at Norfolk, who gave Informa-
tion of the outfit of store & the Provision Vessels, if you have
heard of this Business, be pleased to advise us, We are desirous
of knowing the Truth, a difficult task at present.


[Chase to Jenifer.]

Charles Town Feby 2d 1776.
Dear Sir. Capt Nathaniel Ramsay informs me, that he can
procure about 140 yds of Country made cloth, at about 8/ cuy
per yard, and linen country made, from 2/4 to 2/8 fit & proper
for hunting shirts, enough for his Company. The Cash will
be necessary. I once more take the liberty to remind you of
the gun locks in the hands of Mr S. West. I shall be glad to
render the province or you any services in the city of Philadel-
phia. I am Sir

[Lindenberger and McClellan to Council.]

Gentlemen. At the sitting of the last convention, we
brought a sample of gun powder made by us, Thos Jonston
Esqr acquainted us it was approved of, and a Resolve was
made and ended to lend us (if required) any sum of money
not amounting above £1000 without interest for 2 years, but
as the gentlemen in convention, and we did not know on what
terms we should agree; we was informed, the matter should
be left to the consideration of the Council of Safety which
would sitt in Baltimore & we therefore beg leave to acquaint
the gentlemen whenever they shall think proper, we shall
attend.
