Memoriall.
Whitehall
Sr the 19th of Nov. 1691.
Sr Thomas Lawrence having presented a Memorll to the
Committee of Trade and Plantation wherein he seems to
apprehend that you may have some Intentions to Lessen the
fees and Perquisites belonging to his Place of Secrty of Mary-
land, their Lordsps desire to know from you whether you have
any such Intentions to alter the condition in Profitts of that
Place from what was lately enjoyed by the Secty of Maryland
under the Governmt of the Lords Proprietors

To the Kings most Excellent Matie
The Humble Peticon of Charles Ld Baltemore.
Sheweth
That by yr Maties letter of the first of Aprill 1689 & by an
Ordr of her Matie in Councill of the 26th Feb 1690 and lastly
by a second Royall letter of yr Majties of the 3d of Novembr 1691
yr Petr had leave for his Receivers to demand the Port dutys
or Anchorage Money wch for many yeares has bin by law
vested in yr Petrs Father & himselfe as by the Law of Maryld
has already appeard to the Rt Honble the Lords of yr
Maties most Honble Privy Council: yet notwithstanding that
Law and yr Maties most Gracious Ires & orders thereupon Col
Lyonel Copley yr Maties Governr there has forbid yr Pet" Col-
lector to receive that Part of the Petrs Revenue upon Pretence
of an Act of Assembly procured there by him and lately trans-
mitted hither wch yr Petr has had leave to peruse.
Yr Pef humbly hopeing yr Matie never intended to
take away any part of his property and Revenue set-
tled by Law of that Province does therefore most
humbly beseech yr Maties positive Comands to Col
Copley to suffer your Pef Collectors to receive that
Part of yr Petrs Revenue according to yr Maties former
letters and Orders thereupon and that yr Matie will be
graciously pleasd yr Pef may have yr Royall letter
before the goeing away of this Fleet
And yr Pef as in duty bound shall ever
pray &ca.
