S^r the 19^th of Nov. 1691.
S^r Thomas Lawrence having presented a Memor^ll to the
Committee of Trade and Plantation wherein he seems to
apprehend that you may have some Intentions to Lessen the
fees and Perquisites belonging to his Place of Secr^ty of Mary-
land, their Lords^ps desire to know from you whether you have
any such Intentions to alter the condition in Profitts of that
Place from what was lately enjoyed by the Sec^ty of Maryland
under the Governmt of the Lords Proprietors

To the Kings most Excellent Ma^tie
The Humble Peticon of Charles L^d Baltemore.
Sheweth
That by y^r Ma^ties letter of the first of Aprill 1689 & by an
Ord^r of her Ma^tie in Councill of the 26^th Feb 1690 and lastly
by a second Royall letter of y^r Maj^ties of the 3^d of Novemb^r 1691
y^r Pet^r had leave for his Receivers to demand the Port dutys
or Anchorage Money w^ch for many yeares has bin by law
vested in y^r Pet^rs Father & himselfe as by the Law of Maryld
has already appeard to the Rt Honble the Lords of y^r
Ma^ties most Honble Privy Council: yet notwithstanding that
Law and y^r Ma^ties most Gracious Ires & orders thereupon Col
Lyonel Copley y^r Ma^ties Govern^r there has forbid y^r Pet" Col-
lector to receive that Part of the Pet^rs Revenue upon Pretence
of an Act of Assembly procured there by him and lately trans-
mitted hither w^ch y^r Pet^r has had leave to peruse.
Y^r Pef humbly hopeing y^r Ma^tie never intended to
take away any part of his property and Revenue set-
tled by Law of that Province does therefore most
humbly beseech y^r Mat^ies positive Comands to Col
Copley to suffer your Pef Collectors to receive that
Part of y^r Pet^rs Revenue according to y^r Ma^ties former
letters and Orders thereupon and that y^r Ma^tie will be
graciously pleasd y^r Pef may have y^r Royall letter
before the goeing away of this Fleet
And y^r Pef as in duty bound shall ever
pray &ca.
