Proprietor for the support of Govermt the remaindr three pence
for Arms &c" & says "the one shilling pr Hogshd be apply'd
to the Station & Dignity of his Lordps Lieut Govr residing in
the Province." Therefore say these Politicians, the Proprietor
having Acquiesced to the Annual Support of Goverm in his
Act of 1717 tho' inter Al: abt paymt of his Quit-Rents & of Arms
& Ammunition (the two last concerns being the only real
reasons the Act was made) yet say they by his Assent to the
Act, includg the Support of Govermt on the Expiration of the
said Act, all Support of Govermt is void to the Proprietor &
he must depend on future Gift thereof, from the Legislative
Power ad Libitum as to his Lordp such is Mr Taskers & others
Confused Chimerical Ideas, that occasioned his Doubtful trans-
missn of the Crowns Act in 1704 with regard to the Lord Pro-
prietor. Usage to his Lord not becoming him nor of the sacred
Authority of the Act, Especially from him, Who was by his
Lordp & his Guardians Highly Honoured with the Helem of
Govermt & took his Quota of the one shilling pr Hogshd by
Virtue & in Right by the Royal Act of 1704. For yr Better

Recorded in Maryland.
By Virtue of Letrs Patent it is Concived, the Lord Baltimore &
His Heirs were constituted & Appointed the Kings Hereditary
Govrs of the Province of Maryland: And accordingly the first
Lord Baltimores Either by Themselves, their Deputies or Lieut
Governors Approved of by the Crown administred the Gover-
ment of that Province from the time of Peopling & settling the
same under the Royal Charter, until the year 1692, at wh time
on Accot of the Lord Baltimore & his family being Roman
Catholicks, the Crown was pleased to Appoint & Commission
a Governor & to do so until the year 1715, When the then Lord
Baltimore became a Protestant the Power of Appointment of
Lieut Govr was restored & rested in him, with the Kings
Approbation.
So Early, as in 1638, 1641, 1642 & 1671. subsidys were
raised by Act of Assembly, for Support of Govermt until 1692
at wh time a Govr being appointed by the Crown a Perpetual
Law was made - Intituled an Act for Settlement of an Annual
Revenue upon their Majesty's Govr for the time being. This
Act continued in Force till October 1704, in wh Sessions of
Assembly another Perpetual Act was made - Intituled An Act
for Settlement of an Annual Revenue upon Her Majesty's
Govr within this Province for the time being (on wh Act the
present Application is made) under this Act the Support of
