ffrancis Brooks Gentn att the request of Capt Giles Brent, Liber A. sayth uppon his oath, That bee was prnt when Capt Vaughan “ examined Roger Baxster uppon his oath sometime the last yeare betweene Michaelmas & Christmas Touching the burning of Capt Brents Books by Edw: Corn mins: & tht bee did heare the sd Baxster declare how tht he saw Edw: Commins goe up into Mr Brents loft, & throw downe the Books, saying Burne them Papists Diueils, or words to tht effect. And further this Dept sayth That after uppon discourse touching this matter, wth the sd Roger Baxster, the sd Baxster told this Dept tht he thought tht Capt Vaughan did not sett downe his full oath punctually. But left out this touching the Books, for he did not heare That read, & tht it, of all, most concerned Capt Brent. ffurther hee sayth, That he, this Dept heard Capt Vaughan read the Depn wch hee had taken of Roger Baxster to Capt Brent & he heard nothing in it touching the Books wch att tht time bee did much wounder att. Nouembr 9o ffrancis Brooks Gentn complayneth agst Willm Joanes of Kent, for That about 2 yeares agoe the sd Joanes made bargairie & cont wth this compit for a certaine 9 swine number of hogs & cattle wch he was bownd to make deliuery of to him att the passing Bill therefore: wch this complt did & the sd Joanes hath not as yett made any deliuery of the swine whereby he is damnifyed to the ualew of 2500 l Tob. And deteyneth still the Bill this complt passed to him, for the foresd cattle & swine. Warrt to the Sheriffe of Kent ret January Court.
Whereas it is publikely knowne to all the Inhabtants Kent tht in the late Rebeln of tht Iland Jno Gressam of tht Iland Plantr was a Partaker wth the Rebells, & a principall & actiue Insan mt to meinteine the sd Rebelln of foote. And whereas the s Gressam notwthstanding the late Gours Pardon published the lie of Kent 16o Apr. 1647o & the last Pardon allso publisheu by Tho: Greene Esqr Gour of this prouince & bearing date att St Maries 40 Mantis 1647. in tht case fauorably prouided tht all persons whatsoeur interested in the foresd Rebelln (Rich Ingle Marinr only excepted) expressing sorrow for their facts, & comming & crauing for their Pardon before Michaeirnas last past should haue their Pardon for their offence com mitted, as aforesd Wch notwthstanding the Sd John Gressam persisting in his ill mind, as it doth appeare, hath contemned & neglected, to sue for. These are therfore to requyre & authorize All Sheriffs, belonging unto this prouince, If att any time they shall find the sd Jno Gressam wthin their district, tht
