428 Court and Testamentary Business, 1648.
Liber A. This day the ffreemen of the County of St Maries mett to gether att the Gours to aduise touching the Leuy of the charges incurred this prnt yeare, & determined by the Gour & Coun cell, on the 9o Octobr last, to be leuyed out of the County. The whole charge amounting to 7752 l Tob & Cask. The ffreemen alleage tht the charge for imprisonment of the Indians, is unduely layd uppon the County; But alleged not any thing materiall for it. Whereuppon the Gour fownd noe reason to alter the former order sett downe by the Gour & Councell as aboue. As concerning the manner of leuying the sd charge. The ffreemen unanimously agreed, & concluded tht it should be leuyed uppon all the Tytheable prsons, Inhabts of St Maries County equally pr head, tht were resyding in the County from the tenth of June last wch resulteth to 55 l Tob.
June 14th 1648 19th Octobr Edward Packer sayth uppon his oath, tht he
neur did serue any Exequuon uppon any of the Tob: of Capt Tho: Cornwalleys, to the use of Mr Leon: Calurt Esqr assigned unto him by Mrs Margarett Brent. And further he sayth not

These prnts wittnes tht I Thomas Gerrard Esqr for me my heyres, & assignes haue released Mrs Margarett Brent Admis trator of Leon: Calurt Esqr & her heyres & assignes from all debts, dues & demands apprteyning unto me, out of the estate of the sd Leon: Calurt Esqr from the beginning of the world unto this prnt day. p. Mrs Margarett Brent hath made complt agst Anthony Raw lins for making a pryuate conueyance wth Willm Harditch of a blackish heighfer, wth a white Belly marked Cropd one eare, & slitt & underkeeld the other eare wch sd heighfer did not eur belong to the sd Harditch, or Tho: Sturman. Butt as shee probably beleiueth, belongeth unto Mrs Ewre warrt to the Sheriffe to the Tenure of writt supra pag. 191 in caa Giles Brent uers Ant: Rawlins & Willm Harditch, ret Decembr Court.
Octob. 20th This day came John Garbo of New-Towne in the pro: of Mary-Land, and acknowledgeth to haue gyuen, one Reddish Cow Calfe marked, Crop'd on the left eare; And a
