384 Court and Testamentary Business, 1648.
Liber A. Vppon the demand of Jno Sturman plf uers. Mr Tho: Copley deft Touching the browne Beast, Vppon motion of the plf, not hauing wittnes prnt to make it appeare to be his; desyres tht the sd accon may be respited till next Court.
Aprill 6o Know all men by these prnts tht I Thomas Stur man doe freely & absolutely giue my shahlop, & all the cattle wch of mine are now in Mary-Land, vnto my sonne John Stur man, to haue, hold, & enioy the sd shallop & cattle eur here after, firmely by these prnts as wittnes my hand this 1 3th March 1646. I John Pyle gent. doe resigne our unto Jno Sturman abrowne pyed heyfer of Mr Sturmans marke, in exchange for another heyfer of Jno Sturmans of the sd mrk. Wch he the sd Sturman hath deliuered unto Robt Clarke for my use. And further I bind my selfe to pay for all charges of the suite wch hath beene in Court, betweene the sd Jno Sturman, Robt Clarke, & mee the foresd Jno Pyle. Wittnes our hand this 6o Aprill 1648 John Pille Recognit Teste me John Sturman Willm Bretton.
p. 154 Att a Court held att Henry Adams demandeth ofThomasGreene St Maries 6o Aprills Esqr 3bb Come due for wages the last yeare. Vppon the demand aforesd The Deft acknowledgeth the demand to be due but hauing not Come to satisfy in kind, nor noe prnt meanes to procure it, desyreth tht he may be censured in Court, whatt he shall allow the dft for it in Tob: the next yeare, in leiu of the sd Come & appoynteth Willm Bretton gent” Judge of the Court in this cause, And the Court adiudged for the plf 450 l at the rate of 150 l pr Barrell to be payd the next yeare.
Charles Rawlison att the request of Robt Smith deposed, sayth, tht sometime the last winter he this dept & Capt Price hauing brought in seuerall wild cattle from Sr Georg's side, vnto St Maries That he tooke up att tht time from among the sd cattle, a heighfer of about two yeares old, brownish pyed, as he remembreth, marked wth a flower-de-lewis in each yeare, made by direct slitts. But the one eare hath not soe punctually the sd mark, belonging unto Robt Smith & hauing remayned att St Maries aforesd some good considerable time, wthout being
