                         310     Court and Testamentary Business, 1647.

             

  Liber A.   Hollis 1450 l Tob: & Cask due by bill as for Peter Draper's

                   estate John Hollis p Attornat mr ffenwick desyreth further

                   time wch the Court allowed Provided tht the sd John Hollis

                   appeare att this Court on the first day of October or else the

                   sd Mr ffenwick, Attorney of the sd Hollis doth engage himselfe

                   to pay vnto the plf 1276 l Tob:

             

                    To the demand of Robt Kedger plf agst Willm Lewis deft

                   for 600 l Tob: for a boate of 1 2 foote by the Keele, lost by the

                   deft And The Court found for the plf 300' Tob: & Cask.

             

                    This day came Thomas Greene Esqr (one of the Counsell of

                   this Province) & acknowledgeth himselfe to have gyven one

                   red heyfer Calfe, calld by the name of Cherry. both eares over

                   keeld, & burnt in the forehead wth a Crosse vnto his sonne

                   Leonard Greene to his owne use from this day for eur to

                   aduance him a portion.

                   Recognit in curia                Tho: Greene

                    Willm Bretton Clk.

             

                    This Day came Cuth: fenwick Gent & acknowledgeth him

                   selfe indebted vnto Leonard Calvert Esq in the full summe of

                   1 276 l of good merchantable casked leafe Tob: in case tht John

                   Hollis of Apamatuck plantr shall not appeare personally att St

                   Inego's ffort on the first day of Octobr next ensuing the date

                   hereof. Prouided tht he may safely returne to his owne howse,

                   for any criminall matter tht shall be obiected agst him

                                                  Cuth: ffenwick.

             

                    Vppon the motion of Jno Shertcliffe tht Robt fford being a

                   child betweene 9 or 10 yeares of age formerly brought into

                   this Country by Nicolas Haruey deceased tht in regard of the

                   minority of the child, & the death of the sd Nicolas Haruey the

                   sd Child is now left destitute wthout any meanes of subsistance.

                   Doth desyre tht some prson might be appointed to take the

                   tuition of the sd child for the mainteyning & the good nurtature

                   of him the Court appointed tht the sd Jno Shertcliffe should take

                   the sd child into his tuition & meinteyning him att his owne

                   charge wth all necessaries of livelyhood vntill he came to the

                   age of 19 yeares. in wch time the sd Jno Shirtcliffe is to haue his

                   seruice, in what he shall be able to performe.

             

                    To the demand of Edm: Hudson plf agst ffran: Posey deft

                   Joane Rawlins deposed sayth, tht she knoweth not whither

                   ifran: Posey sett on any dogs on the plfs hoggs & sayth more

                   our tht she saw the deft doe what he could in taking the dogs

                   from of the hoggs & knoweth not whether any one putt the

                   dogs on the hogs or not.
