one thousand six hundred sixty Seaven noe tobacco shall be
sowen Sett planted or any waies in this Province of Maryland
Provided th^l the Hono^ble S^r William Berkley & the assembly
in Virginia & William Drummond Esq^r Governor of Carolena
& the Assembly there doe make the like act in their seu^rall &
Respectiue assembly's prohibiting the Sowing Setting planting
or any wayes tending any Tobacco in the s^d yeare within their
seu^rall and Respective Jurisdiccons And further whereas itt is
Provided by the s^d act That you the s^d Philip Calvert Henry
Coursey Nathaniell Vtye Thomas Nottley Robert Slye &
Thomas Brooke or any three of you be sent Com^rs from mee

with full power to treate & conclude vpon a Totall Cessacon
from Sowing setting planting or any waies tending any tobacco
in & during the s^d yeare with the said S^r William Berkley &
the said William Drummond or Com^rs from them & their Re-
spective Assembly's to be Impowered to the like End intent &
purpose Obliging all psons whatsoeu^r within this Province to
Observe whatsoeu^r you the said Philip Calvert Henry Coursey
Nathaniell Vtye Thomas Nottley Robert Slye & Thomas Brooke
or any Three or more of you shall agree vpon w^th the s^d S^r W^m
Berkeley & W^m Drummond Esq^r or the Com^rs by them & their
assembly's to be Impowered as aforesayd tending only to the
Effectuall execucon of th^t act as by the s^d act relacon being
therevnto had more att large appeareth Now know ye th^t I as
well for the Confidence I have in you the said Philip Calvert
Henry Coursey Nathaniell Vtye Robert Sly Thomas Nottley &
Thomas Brooke as for th^l you were nomited Com^rs by the
assembly aforesayd Have Constituted ordeyned & Impowered
& doe by theis presents Constitute appoint ordeine & Impower
you the s^d Philip Calvert Henry Coursey Nathaniell Vtye
Thomas Nottley Robert Slye & Thomas Brooke or any Three
or more of you Corh^rs to treate with the s^d S^r W^m Berkley &
w^m Drummond or Com^rs from them & their Respetive assem-
blyes as aforesaid & vpon the s^d treaty to agree & conclude
vpon a Totall Cessacon from Sowing Setting planting or any
waies tending any tobacco w^thin the three Collonies afores^d
from the first of ffebruary one Thousand six hundred sixty six
till the first of ffebruary one thousand six hundred sixty Seaven
wherefore I doe request ththings don't have to get awkward

the s^d Com^rs or any three of them
be Credited & beleived in all things which they shall doe in &

approve what soeu^r shall be done by them according to this my
Comission, & according to the true intent Purport & meaning
