June 10. Mrs Margarett Brent deposeth tht the late Gou-
ernor Leonard Calvert Esq being lying uppon his death bed,
did by word of mouth on the Ninth of this month nominate
Thomas Greene Esq Gouernor of the Prouince of Maryland,
ffrancis Anketill being prnt att the same time deposeth idem
Mrs Mary Brent deposeth idem, being prnt att the same time.
James Linsey being allso prt deposeth idem

June 10. Whereas by Commisn from the Rt honble Cecill Ld
Propr of the Province of Mary Land to the late Gouernor
Leonard Calvert Esq. bearing date the 18th Septembr 1644 att
his Lps ffort att St maries in the sd Prouince : Hee the sd Leon:
Calvert was authorized in case, hee should happen to dye, or
be absent from time to time out of the sd Prouince to nominate
elect & appoint, such an able person inhabiting & residing,
wthin the sd Prouince (as he in his discretion should make
choice of & thinke fitt) to be Gouernor of the sd Prouince.
These are therefore to publish & declare to all prsons whom it
may concerne, thl the sd Leon: Calvert did by word of mouth
on the Ninth day of June 1647 Gym& uppon his death bed, yett
in prfect memory) nominate & appoint Thomas Greene Esqr
one of the Councell of this Prouince, to be Gouernor of the
same; wth all the same authority & power of gouermt as he
the sd Leonard Calvert was authorized by his Lops Commisn to
conferre uppon him. As by the oaths of Mrs Margaret & Mary
Brent, ffrancis Anketill, & James Linsey (who were all then
prsent wth him att the same time) is auerred to be true.

June 12th Whereas for certaine crimes formerly committed
John Dandy amongst other penalties was adiudged to be
publique Executionr wthin this Prouince. Vppon the good
behauior of the sd John Dandy, & for many good seruices
performed by him behauing himselfe eur since uprightly, for-
ward & willing in the undertaking divers matters for the good,
& safety of this Prouince, to the uttmost of his power. And
especially expressing a speciall readines & faythfullnes to the
late Governor Leonard Calvert Esqr the sd L. Calvert did
promise to remitt the sd John Dandy from all former penalties,
