CS 459.753 The Idea of the City: From Tribal Village to Regional Metropolis (Edge City?) and beyond

This course consists of reading and discussing four books, one pamphlet, and a document packet. Students are expected to develope a discussion outline for each of the books, lead a group discussion of one or more chapters in one of the books, and prepare a final paper (which will constitute the final exam and 50% of the grade) on some aspect of the future of Baltimore City as placed in the context of the Baltimore 2000 report of the Goldseker foundation which is included in the document packet Is Baltimore Burning?
