While planning and executing special events, the Commission also served as a clearinghouse of information about millennium activities statewide.

Activities supported by the Commission included:

The Commission's final report, Faces of Maryland 2000: A View of a Statewide Celebration, was submitted to the Governor in December 2000.

The Task Force considered ways to increase safety and minimize weather-related risks for commercial vessels. The Task Force also addressed the repair and maintenance of the fleet, and the availability of insurance coverage for the vessels and their crews. Initial recommendations were made by the Task Force on April 17, 2000.
