In January 2013, the House Speaker formed the Business Climate Work Group to make initial recommendations and develop long-term plans to streamline business regulations, encourage business innovation, and develop public-private partnerships to finance infrastructure.

The Work Group did not meet after the formation of the Maryland Economic Development and Business Climate Commission in March 2014.
