Summer Internship - Women's Hall of Fame
Research Internships



Who:  Undergraduate or graduate level college students attending Maryland schools or Maryland residents attending out-of-state schools are eligible to apply. The competitive selection process is based on an evaluation of the following application materials:

  • Cover letter  (statement of  how you will benefit from the program and how the agency will benefit from your participation)
  • Maryland State Employment Application Form (MS 100) - may be downloaded at http://www.mdsa.net/msa/intromsa/employ/doc/ms100.doc
    Note:  There is no announcement number.  Use "Summer Intern" as the job title on the form.
  • Official copy of academic transcripts, both undergraduate and graduate, if applicable
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member
  • A sample of the applicant's academic writing (copy of a paper written for class is accepted)

What:  During the ten-week paid summer program, intern will conduct research and write in-depth biographies of honorees in the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame. Intern will use a mixture of research databases, and primary and secondary sources to prepare biographies for inclusion on the Archives' website. Attention to detail and basic computer skills are required; a background or interest in women's history and/or studies is preferred. Some assignments may require regular off-site work. Interns will receive an hourly wage, paid bi-weekly. Hourly rates are based on education level: undergraduate at $10.99 per hour, and graduate at $11.61 per hour

                Annapolis, MD 21401 

When:  Wednesday, June 5 - Tuesday, August 13, 2013  
Positions are Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week

We will attempt to notify candidates of decisions on Monday, April 29, 2013. It is not necessary to be a history major to participate in the program, and students of other disciplines are encouraged to apply.
